About Cartier
Cartier is a watch house founded in 1847 and based in Paris, France, best known for Tank and Santos. Crown Auctions offers pre-owned Cartier pieces in its Australian online auctions. Each lot is inspected by specialists and listed with photographs and condition notes.
Louis-François Cartier founded the house in Paris in 1847. In 1904 Louis Cartier designed the Santos for aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, one of the first purpose-made men's wristwatches.
The Tank followed in 1917. Cartier's strength is design, and vintage and contemporary pieces alike are prized for their proportions.
